Emerging Technologies in E-learning

Think about exams without a biased grader or checking the assignments readability, and you will get an idea. The purpose here is to collect enough information about e-learning and master a positive lesson!

Even though we are already used to video conferences on Zoom and various LMS systems, technologies like that are constantly evolving, as the field of e-learning is one of the most dynamic branches. What we may not know is that there are AI-based tools that will provide even more automation for those tasks that we may not assume.

Think about exams without a biased grader or checking the assignment's readability, and you will get an idea! At the same time, there will be analysis and strategic thinking tools that students and educators may not see right away, as these technologies are only emerging. The purpose here is to collect enough information about e-learning and master a positive lesson!

What Technologies Are Emerging In E-Learning?

1. Socioemotional Learning

One of the most crucial problems related to e-learning belongs to the classes that take place online. It is one of the reasons why the socioemotional bond is the main focus. A good example of innovation in this aspect is the list of the latest additions to Google Classroom.

They include interactive surveys and multimedia elements where students can provide their input and learn with each other. Another great solution is the Slack platform that has leisure chat rooms and separate notifications, meaning that there is always space for fun where students can interact.

2. AI-fueled Teaching

As a rule, it will always differ, depending on the subject and school in question. For example, if we are turning to an LMS platform or social media analysis learning, we shall use statistical tools or solutions like Hemingway App to check on grammar, style, and readability.

The same can be said about using an instant pocket dictionary or lecture recording tools. As things become unified by LMS platforms, AI-teaching will provide inspiring solutions that can be adjusted to certain objectives.

3. Project-Based Learning

Since we are becoming more focused on slideshows and presentations, there are more tools like Quizlet that help students and educators create flashy slideshows and projects. There are also friendly online communities that share information free of charge by using templates for the creation of multimedia project-oriented lessons.

At the same time, one must remember that modern technology will not take away open-air museum visits or places like Technopolis because the projects will use technology differently. As an example, there will be recording devices and grading tools that can be accessed anywhere to estimate how a student has mastered some concept right away.

4. Remote Classes

As you might already know about remote learning courses like Khan Academy or Coursera, there will be complete online classes that will act as a complete academic solution. Without a doubt, it won’t fit every learner these days due to various reasons, yet it will decrease the risks of not getting enrolled as there may be more students.

There still will be a plethora of assignments and tests, but the way we approach them will be different. One of such examples is online assistance, where you may receive your best essay in case you get stuck. No more waiting for an available college professor, as you can get immediate help!

5. Virtual Reality Platforms

It may seem that VR headsets and AR (Augmented Reality) solutions in education are in relative stagnation, it’s not really so because virtual reality is constantly used in online education.

Starting with engineering and biology classes to fashion studies and middle school history lessons, educators use VR to provide students with an enhanced experience. Once it’s possible to explain complex concepts visually, lessons become more condensed and need no textbooks that often take more time to read and understand each concept.

6. Exam-Free Classroom

The majority of teachers will advise against it as the exams show how well a student has coped with an assignment. Still, online classes provide self-control tools for each learner that will motivate and provide tips to gain more success points.

The exams will be replaced by weekly report cards with analysis and recommendations. Achieving success will unlock further modules. It will also offer safe learning methods where a teacher can provide help individually without letting the other students know about who is better or worse.

7. Student-Oriented Guidance

If you have not experienced student-based lessons before, think about a cloud-based educational platform called Socrative. The purpose of this great emerging technology is a decentralization of the teacher’s role. As the students get more responsibilities, learning takes place by focusing on curriculum benchmarks and checkpoints.

In simple terms, students are not influenced by the teacher or instructions as they seek solutions and choose various ideas to reach their academic goals. Still, a supervisor can check on final reports and provide tips to achieve even more efficiency.

Our Attitude Matters

While it may be impossible to embrace all sides of emerging technology in e-learning, it should not be the main priority. The purpose is to explore and adjust our attitude to what we encounter as we learn. For example, as the pandemic broke into the world, we had to face the challenges of remote education.

The practice shows that it had both positive and negative sides since not everyone could access all these emerging learning technologies. It has been not only about technical or financial factors because some students and educators simply could not get along with technology. Therefore, one must explore and give it time to see how something can be helpful and why it might (or might not) work.
